The Hull and internal hull structure of 552 is now complete. Its undergoing fairing and then will be primed. The deck is underway also from female tooling and once that is done the fit out of the yacht will commence. She’s identical to the PC551 except has a different Owners cabin layout forward.
The 83 is either available themed/styled like the PC 66’s or as a Deck house version which in essence will be a development of aluminium 2013 built PC 85 “Windhunter II” but to be built in Carbon with a shallower hull form. Both models will have fabulous performance in all conditions. Its really a personal decision as to what styling one prefers and maybe what areas one will sail, a nice decision to have to make !!
In mid September we delivered “SULTANA” the PC 662 from Bodrum to St Tropez for the owner to participate in the Voile de St Tropez. We left Bodrum in fabulous sunshine and 25/30 knots on the beam and in the first 24 hours and did 220 miles with the staysail and 2 reefs in the main. Unfortunately the wind and sunshine were not to last and the weather for the balance of the trip to Sicily was fairy mixed. We stopped in Siracusa (beautiful town and friendly people) and then did the trip up to NE Sardinia via Messina. The NE coast of Sardinia was simply stunning and we were sorry not to have more time to enjoy it but pressed onto the very glitsy St Tropez. The Owner had a very successful regatta coming 2nd in the Spirit of Tradition category and with the boat in the main St Tropez harbour she was much admired. Once the regatta finished a delivery crew bought her back to Bodurm for the winter having completed a 2500 mile round trip and taken it all her stride without issues..
There have been a lack up updates but this does not reflect the progress on the boat which continues. The deck is glued and taped on, hull is bulk faired and primed, engine and generator in and we are now well into the interior up the waist height and the systems which have been planned out. She’s got a duel voltage system 220v but ability to take 110v as well as a very neat Webasto aircon system which has an integrated diesel heater.
We had the great privilege of having Toby Hodges in Bodrum to test the PC55 and also have a brief sail on the PC66. We had Richard Langdon of Ocean Images shooting a video of both boats – he is a master of his art as well as being a whizz with his drone. We were blessed by having superb conditions and bright sunshine. The YW report will be coming out later in the year,
Mazu, 66/01 had a very successful racing debut at the Spetses Classic Regatta. In a competitive Spirit of Tradition class containing a host of 70/80 foot boats she achieved Line Honours in every race and came 2nd overall. The regatta was held in predominately light winds of about 6/10 knts TWS and these designs really excel in theses conditions with their large sail plans and low wetted surface areas. Spetses is a lovely island and the regatta very friendly and well organised.
