Overview and history:
Zulu VII (2021) is a stunning example of the proven PC 55 series designed by the famous Hoek Design team. The design takes its DNA from the famous Bristol Pilot Cutters of the 19th century which were renowned for their speed and seakeeping abilities—a generous sail plan and modern underwater profile ensure performance is exceptional. Hoek have refined the design to include a very spacious cockpit and flush deck areas as well as an airy and light interior with 3 double cabins and 2 heads. The series PC’s are built by Metur Yacht in Turkey who have been building for Hoek design for 20 years and have built and delivered 9 of the PC series of various sizes. Zulu VII is Hull No.2 of a series of five PC 55’s built and delivered between 2017-2024.
Yachting World in August 2017 gave a very complimentary full boat test report of the first of the PC 55’s which is available on the PC Yachts web site (www.pcyachts.net) under Videos.
Zulu VII, whilst launched and commissioned in 2021, was not used by the Owner, an experienced Yachtsman, until the summer of 2022 due to Covid restrictions. Since then she has been lightly used by the Owners to cruise both the eastern Med and more recently the Adriatic. She is presently based in Venice, Italy. Kept under a full winter cover she is well maintained and will be found in great condition – she spent the 2024/25 winter ashore and was relaunched in late May 2025.
The 3 double cabin interior is ‘New England Beach house’ style designed to give a very light and airy feel predominantly white painted with wood detailing which together with the wrap around windows creates a wonderful feel.
The deck areas are very spacious and usable – the cockpit can seat 8 for lunch under a full bimini which can be used whether at anchor or sailing. The coach roof and foredeck feature flush hatches with all areas covered in teak with a teak varnished caprail.
Construction is foam core for the Hull, Deck and Bulkheads with epoxy glass skins with the hull, deck and bulkheads all laminated and bonded together with a carbon grid system and carbon reinforcements to create a strong monocoque structure.
